After a wild season packed with some of the best isekai and fantasy anime in recent memory, Spring 2025 has taken a breather. For the first time in a while, we’ve got just one new isekai airing this season—so honestly, I’m at a bit of a loss for what to cover.
Thankfully, the Overlord movie just dropped on Blu-ray, plus some long-overdue catch-ups on Re\:Zero and DanMachi.
But first, let’s take a look at the sequels for this season—because there are some big ones.
Fire Force Season 3
Fire Force is back, and this time it’s in two parts. Part one kicks off now, with the second half arriving in January 2026. Supposedly, this arc leads us to the final conclusion of the series.
There are still about 130 manga chapters left to adapt. Sounds like a lot, but considering the anime has already covered 175 chapters across 50 episodes, it’s definitely doable—especially since much of what’s left is high-octane action, which tends to move faster than world-building.
David Production is still at the helm, so this should be a strong and climactic finish.
Slime 300: Season 2
Yes, this one’s back—four years after the original. Honestly, it feels like this show aired two years ago at most, but I guess the whole “lost in the COVID timespace vortex” effect got us all.
Expect more comfy, slice-of-life fantasy with our overpowered witch protagonist, an expanding cast, and a relaxed vibe in a familiar isekai setting.
Loser Ranger (Core 2)
Technically Season 2, but really just the second cour of a split season. If you missed it the first time around (thanks, Disney jail), now’s your chance.
This series flips the Power Rangers formula on its head: the supposed “heroes” are the real villains, and the powerless resistance known as the Dusters are trying to expose the truth. I’ve seen a lot of people compare it to The Boys, which says a lot about its tone.
Definitely worth checking out if you missed it earlier.
Bye Bye Earth: Season 2
Not the most popular title on this list, but Bye Bye Earth brings a layered and mysterious fantasy world. If you found Season 1 confusing (and trust me, you weren’t alone), Season 2 should help answer a lot of your burning questions.
It’s not your typical straightforward anime—this one wants you to think. Whether that makes it entertaining is up to you.
New Anime for Spring 2025
Let’s talk about the new stuff—some exciting, some experimental, and some… well, we’ll see.
The Beginning After the End
One of the most hyped webcomic adaptations… but I’m keeping expectations low. As much as I want to treat this like the next Solo Leveling, the trailers haven’t shown me much worth getting excited about.
Still, the story is strong. It’s about the most powerful king in history, reincarnated as a powerless boy, determined to live a more fulfilling life. Early Mushoku Tensei vibes, but it branches into its own thing with classic power fantasy elements.
Could go either way—but it deserves a shot.
I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire
This is our one new isekai this season—and it’s surprisingly fresh.
Think: an isekai protagonist reincarnated not as a hero, but as the villain. More specifically, a Gundam-style space emperor. Or better yet, anime Palpatine.
It’s got mechs. It’s got galactic conquest. And despite the classic fantasy tropes, the sci-fi setting gives it a much-needed twist.
It’s giving Overlord energy in space—and I’m here for it.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
This one looks clean.
A retired sword instructor is suddenly called back to train the next generation of elite knights—who all happen to be his former students. Except now, they’re big names with titles like “Ace Adventurer,” and he’s wondering why they even need him anymore.
It’s a power fantasy with a mentor twist. Simple premise, but it could be a lot of fun if the fights are well-animated.
Sword of the Demon Hunters
This one’s more grounded: a time-traveling demon hunter trying to find his purpose. It feels like a slower, more character-driven Demon Slayer with deep historical roots.
It’s an eastern fantasy with a strong emotional core. If you’re into character development over spectacle, give this one a shot.
The Brilliant Healer’s New Life in the Shadows
Take Eminence in Shadow, swap the edgy swordsman for a low-key healer, and you’ve got this show.
It’s about a guy who’s been stepped on by life, teaching himself healing magic and starting an underground clinic. It’s not flashy, but it’s got heart—and a bit of that secret identity flair.
The Unaware Atelier Master
Basically DanMachi’s Bell if he swapped swords for a forge. Kurt is kind, humble, and totally unaware of how skilled he really is—just not in combat.
It feels like a reverse power fantasy, where the MC is OP in everything except fighting. Could be fun if it leans into the creative side of adventuring.
Once Upon a Witch’s Death
A girl cursed with only one year to live. Her only hope? Collect the Tears of Joy from 1,000 people to craft the Seed of Life and become immortal.
This is an emotional, episodic journey in the vein of Violet Evergarden or Wandering Witch. Each encounter hits differently—and it’s all about the people she meets along the way.
The Two Perfect Saints
Overpowered protagonist—but instead of being adored, she’s deemed insufferable and sold off to a neighboring country.
This story becomes about her navigating a new life where her power is a burden. A nice twist on the usual saint/savior formula with a side of romance and political intrigue.
The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl
In a world where people are blessed by animal gods, our heroine gets the blessing of the Gorilla God—aka, insane strength. Naturally, the royal knights take notice.
Cue the reverse harem. It’s fun, ridiculous, and plays into fantasy tropes in the best way possible.
Teogonia
Possibly an isekai… maybe? The MC has vague past-life memories, but that’s not the focus.
This is more of a hard survival story set in the Borderlands, where villagers fight demibeasts to stay alive. Gritty, grounded, and an underdog tale through and through.
#Compass 2.0
Based on a mobile game from 2016, this anime blends fate-style hero summoning with tactical gameplay.
Heroes from another world partner with humans to battle other pairs. It’s strategy-heavy, and while I still don’t totally get it, it looks like it could be deep if done right.
Princession Orchestra
It’s our seasonal idol fantasy—complete with magical girls, pop songs, and an existential monster threat.
An original from Studio Silver Link, so if “pop song fantasia filled with energy and bravery” is your thing, go for it.
️ Untitled Sci-Fi from Wit Studio (Netflix)
This isn’t fantasy or isekai—but it needs to be on your radar.
Wit Studio is dropping an original sci-fi anime on Netflix, and it looks like a Gundam-type story—minus the mechs. Focused on politics, war, and revenge, with stunning visuals and big stakes.
Definitely one to watch.
